New stable version 4.16 released

Six months after releasing the last stable 4.14, the speedata Publisher is now at version 4.16. There have been a few major improvements:

• Rewrite the MetaPost integration, including support for opacity and text.
• Rewrite the XPath parser and re-activate the Go based XML parser for better error handling and data access.

Also a few minor enhancements

• more Unicode space characters (thin space, hair space,…)
• border color parameter for <A>
• link to embedded files
• rename backgroundcolor to background-color on some commands
• new command for user defined functions for XPath
• (optionally) draw tracing grid above all objects
• new PDFOptions layout options
• attribute require for <Layout>

As always: your layouts should work without changes.

Preparing the version 5 release

The next development releases will introduce some more drastic changes that could (but shouldn’t) lead to backward incompatible changes. I’ll switch the default xpath parser and the default font loader to the modern replacements.
